A close-up of the back side of the bumper. All bumper bars had a subtle texture of roll and scale marks that were only removed from the front face and ends. These bars also have the above symbol repeating every 11". Note the non-reflective silver color.
 

 
As with plating today, chrome will not draw into corners leaving an area of yellow colored nickel. Ford finished the inside ends with silver or aluminum paint which matched the color of the dull chrome nearly perfect.
 

 
Ford had three or four suppliers of bars, arms, etc. The most common markings found are "C" and "U". The markings are evident on most bumper bars and arms. Note the similar texture in the bumper arm. Ford made no attempt to fill or hide the texture.
